How our scores work

Every number on Love & Astro comes from a small, fixed set of rules. There's no secret algorithm, no AI guessing about you, and no data sent to a server. Here's the whole recipe.

Your love style

The Love Style Quiz and the Perfect Match Quiz look at three questions about how you love. We call them axes:

• Pace: do you fall fast, or slowly?
• Bond: do you like to do everything together, or keep plenty of independence?
• Energy: do you want adventure, or calm?

Each quiz has four questions per axis. Every answer leans one way, a little (1 point) or a lot (2 points). We add up the points on each axis, and the side that wins becomes part of your style. If an axis ends in a perfect tie, your answer to the first question on that axis decides it, so the same answers always give the same result.

Three axes with two sides each make exactly eight combinations, and each combination is one of the eight love styles. The Lighthouse, for example, is slow, together and calm; The Comet is fast, independent and adventurous.

Love style compatibility

When we pair two love styles (for your ideal match, for example) we start at 55 points and add:

• +15 if you both like the same amount of closeness (bond),
• +12 if you both want the same energy,
• +9 if your pace is different, or +6 if it's the same.

Why reward a different pace? In our model one partner sets the speed and the other steadies it. That's an opinion, not a scientific finding, and we'd rather tell you than hide it. Scores range from 61 to 91.

Zodiac compatibility

For signs, we use the classic idea of aspects: how far apart two signs sit on the zodiac wheel. Each distance has a fixed score:

Signs that are four apart share an element (fire, earth, air or water), which is why that pairing scores highest. The explanation you see with each result comes from the aspect and from your two elements.

Your sun sign comes from your birthday's month and day. Around the change from one sign to the next, the exact day shifts a little from year to year, so if you were born on a cusp we let you choose.

What we don't do

• We don't store your birthday or your answers. Everything is calculated in your browser.
• We don't show fake counters, fake urgency or made-up statistics.
• We never hide your result behind an email or a share.
• We don't claim to predict the future. A score is a conversation starter, not a verdict on your relationship.
